About
In New Jersey, we know lots of great sex education is being provided, but we also know that this is sometimes an uncomfortable topic to discuss. We want to remove that discomfort – sex education is education, and learning about these topics is an important part of life. Quality sex education helps improve the health and wellness of young people. To that end, we want to make sure that sex education is as accessible and high-quality as it can possibly be. We want to learn where schools are providing great sex ed, and identify areas where schools, administrators, teachers, and parents need additional resources and support.
To do this, a coalition of parents, community members, and statewide advocacy organizations are launching a new campaign, New Jersey's Sex Ed Report Card. Together, we are gathering information from schools across the state to create a public report on sex education in NJ. Our goal is to use this report to set a statewide plan and secure the additional investment dollars and tools our schools need. The report will include general trends and recommendations on potential areas for additional investment based upon the overall responses to this survey.
We are excited to work with teachers, administrators, elected officials, and community partners to ensure that sex education in New Jersey is the gold standard. New Jersey is already a national leader when it comes to investing in sexual and reproductive health care – now we can be a leader on this front, too.
